Memphis H.O.G. Chapter #4928

Local H.O.G. line 901-759-1008.

Director: Jon Shook

Mid-South H.O.G. Events for 1999:

Memphis riders are located in the vicinity of Little Sturgis, KY (July 15) and the Biloxi Blowout in June. Some traveled last year and the pictures I saw looked great from either rally. The National H.O.G. rally was held in Memphis, Aug 22nd, 1996.

March 27: Chili cook-Off at Bumpus H-D of Memphis.

April 18: Memphis Zoo Ride

July 15: This year the National H.O.G. rally will be in Greeneville, SC.

Aug, 20: Tennessee State H.O.G. rally in Clarksville, TN (150 mi. NE of Memphis). Entertainment TBA. $25 for t-shirt, pin, and entry into concert. Nearby Nashville, Riverboat gambling, and natural scenic areas. Vendors and Bike show area free.

Independent Rides and Miscellaneous

May 13: Muscle Shoals, Alabama ride (150 mi. SE of Memphis). Home of Alabama Music Hall of Fame, Helen Keller, and Wilson Dam. Then on to Knoxville, TN for a PowWow on the 15th. Visit the Great Smoky Mtns.

July 15: Little Sturgis, KY rally. An alternative to the Natl. H.O.G. rally in SC.

Aug 5: Arkansas State H.O.G. rally in Hot Springs, about 3 hrs. west of Memphis.

Sep, (TBA): Trail of Tears in Waterloo, AL on the Natchez Trace (130 mi. ESE of Memphis). Native American Pow Wow & Harley ride with free parking and camping for riders. Camping is primitive but right on the TN River. Official estimate of riders: a few thousand. If you aren't camping, it's 30 miles to the nearest hotel or ATM. Plan to stay in Florence/Muscle Shoals.

Oct, (TBA): For those of you interested in the other bikes, the BMW rally, held at Pickwick Dam, TN, is a wonder. This is an annual event. Camping by the TN River with Shiloh, the Natchez Trace, and Buford Pusser's museum short rides from the rally site. Hotels and saloons are a short distance away.
